“Instead of focusing on rebuilding the Republican Party, party leaders should focus on rebuilding the middle class.”-Sarah Palin

Speaking at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference , former Gov. Palin offered  advice to the Republican Party as to how it can be more successful in the future. One of the things she suggested is to focus on the middle class.

While I consider Mrs. Palin a very informed, brilliant and accomplished conservative, I adamantly oppose her concept on this specific topic. I suggest that it plays right into the hands of Democrats, unintentionally.

It is a form of “reaction” to the Left’s relentless class warfare, rather than being proactive in promoting solutions that rebuild all of America.

Republicans have to control their own narrative rather than creating one based upon class warfare being waged by Democrats.

I propose the following economic solutions that work for all Americans (I don’t play the middle class game):

-Get rid of ObamaCare
-Implement a New Flat Tax, between 13-17 percent
-Reduce the U.S. Corporate Tax Code to no more than 23 percent and allow for permanent repatriation of overseas profits, with a goal of heading towards a territorial system of taxation
-Repeal the Davis Bacon Act
-Implement a National Right to Work Act

-Abolish the Department of Education by January 2014, with a plan to allow Abolish the Department of Agriculture and Department of Commerce and Department of Energy, all by Jan. 2016. The states can handle their responsibilities in these areas, saving taxpayers billions.
-Pass the Life at Inception Act, which will automatically require a defunding a Planned Parenthood (over $485 million taxes go to PP each year)

This is just a start, however they are achievable goals. Goals for all of America. Not a particular class or group of Americans.

To be fair, former Gov. Sarah Palin knows this is important and apparently challenged the Republican Party in a bold and necessary manner: “It’s time to stop preaching to the choir, and let’s grow.”

“We must share our powerful message of freedom and liberty to all citizens, even those who may disagree on some issues,” Palin said, “because there is solid, common ground in fighting against government overreach and for independence. And those who may disagree with us on some issues, they’re not our enemies. They’re our sisters and our brothers; our neighbors and our friends.”

“If we truly believe the words of our other founding document, the Declaration of Independence, with its world-changing assertion that, yes, all men are created equal,” she continued, “then there are no Hispanic issues or African-American issues or women’s issues; there are only American issues.”

So, did Sarah Palin give the Republican Party “bad advice”?

I would say that, with the exception of saying that the GOP needs to focus on rebuilding “the middle class”, Mrs. Palin’s advice is the best I have heard coming from this weekend’s CPAC.
